Maria Castillo is a Master of City Planning student at the University of Pennsylvania. She currently works at RMI on their Carbon-Free Electricity team, where she focuses on supporting regulatory decision makers on the topic of energy poverty. She attended Columbia University as an undergraduate, majoring in Earth and Environmental Engineering. Her current research interest is the relationship between utility disconnections and predatory collection practices targeted at marginalized communities.
