Previously, Ben worked with environmental and public interest nonprofits, including an eight-year tenure as the director of the Boston-based organization Environment Massachusetts. In that role, Ben led successful efforts to require annual disclosure of energy use in large office and apartment buildings, increase the state's renewable portfolio standard, and allocate more funding for energy efficiency retrofits in low-income housing.
